Diana takes inspiration from many sources, including visual references, and has developed an abstract expressionist style of painting reflecting her character and need to search for the ‘otherness’ or ‘intangible’ in life.
Diana combines dyes and paints with collage and fabrics, layering, folding, shredding and tearing to create texture.
Diana studied textile printing and dyeing at Whiteland’s College Putney in the 1970s, developing her colour and design skills. Her tutor, Nora Proud, included photographs of her work in the Batsford book ‘Simple Textile Dyeing and Printing’.
In 2010, Diana was awarded a First Class Honours Degree in Fine Art at Glyndwr University, Wrexham, and has been painting and drawing ever since.
Diana is a founder member of the Inside Out Art Group : www.insideoutart.co.uk, and also a member of both the Borderland Visual Arts and Helfa Gelf Art groups. She exhibits and sells her work in North East Wales in venues such as Pandy Mill Gallery, the Willow Gallery Oswestry and Theatre Clwyd Mold. In 2010 she was short listed for the Signature Art Awards run by DegreeArt.com, and shows and sells work in their gallery in London.
Diana was invited to display work in The Artists Alley, San Francisco (Galiara.com). In 2012 she was also invited to show work in various art fairs both in London and New York. She occasionally works to commission, and completed three large commissions in 2012. Diana completed her M.A in Art Practice in 2014.
