I’ve been working on several new works recently and experimenting with thick layers of gesso. It’s a good base on which to “stick” gold leaf and makes the whole painting process much more hands on – almost like playing in the wet sand on the seafront as a child……scratching charcoal or a palette knife through the still wet gesso is very satisfying…..
“Elusive” uploaded a few days ago has been amended slightly. Here also is its partner called “Confronting the Dark”
Both paintings still need some more drying time. Another that I am just playing with, is an experimental work using home-made gesso.
